Synod, Teams, & Parish Ministries News

Trinity Church

Dear Trinity,

Next week, our team will travel to the Colorado Springs area for the annual gathering with all 35+ churches from our Diocese. We are looking forward to it, and we ask that you'd pray for us as we prepare this week, and as we're there next.

This gathering allows members of our congregation to have a taste of the worldwide Anglican Church as we worship, learn, and spend time developing relationships. And guess what? You can participate from home by livestreaming the sessions! (That link will take you to DRM’s YouTube channel.)

This year’s theme is Heritage and Hope: Rwandan Roots for the Church’s Renewal with Bishop John Rucyahana. We hope you enjoy worshipping and learning with the wider family to whom we’re connected.

Dates: Tue, Feb 4 - Thurs, Feb 6

  • There are 5 sessions you can watch (listed in PST)

    • Tues @ 1pm          (session 1)

    • Tues @ 5:30pm    (opening eucharist)

    • Wed @ 8:15am     (session 2)

    • Thurs @ 8:45am   (session 3)

Been Here 6 Months? Serve on a Team!

Our tradition here at Trinity is to welcome newcomers into resting and receiving for their first six months with us. This is a beautiful time to learn the rhythms of prayer, liturgy, and community life in our congregation. After these months, we would love to invite you into a team to participate more fully in the life of our church. If you are not yet on a service team please fill out this online form to start a conversation around which might be a good fit for you.  Most of the opportunities involve a monthly or even every other month schedule that can work around your availability.

Together,

Karin Abbott

Matthew 25 Ministries @ Trinity

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matt 25:40)

Wenatchee Rescue Mission

In December, 40 Trinity folks of all ages shared a Christmas Meal, played Bingo and sang O Come, O Come Emmanuel with the homeless in Wenatchee who were receiving help at Wenatchee Rescue Mission. It was a night full of joy mixed with the reality of pain and hardship, all of which we continue to learn to lift to Jesus.

Invitation to serve: Scott and Monique, directors of Wenatchee Rescue Mission, are in California grieving the loss of a parent. They could use volunteers to help serve meals, especially while they are away. Immediate needs: Thursday evening, Friday afternoon or evening, Saturday afternoon or evening. If you are available and would like to help out, please text Monique (626) 222-1173 (say you’re from Trinity Church wanting to serve). If you have questions, text or email Nicole and she’ll help get you set up. nicole@trinitywenatchee.org. This is a special thing to do as a family with older kids or with a friend!

Border Pilgrimage

Seven of us are signed up to go to El Paso/Juarez to learn about how to better see and love our neighbors in Christ. While listening tours are open to all people, not just Christians, Sami, the director, worships at an Anglican church in El Paso.

Prior to starting Abara, he served for ten years as the director of a local non-profit connecting his Jesus-loving church to the vulnerable in their neighborhood. He exudes the heart of Christ for the least of these, and we have much to learn from him and his team while we are with them. If you are considering taking this pilgrimage with us, please email Nicole soon. We want to have our team in order so that we can purchase plane tickets when they are reasonably priced and begin training and fundraising in late February.

Thank you to those of you who, although unable to travel to the border, have reached out wanting to receive and learn with us when we get back. I wonder what the Lord has for us as we listen and learn and posture ourselves to participate with Jesus in the loving of our neighbors in Wenatchee and beyond.

Safe Families

Many of us are growing together in Christ as we come alongside families in need in our valley. We would love to invite you to join us.

There are opportunities to take part in this ministry in several ways:

Resource friend – Respond to needs like meals for single parents, to lightly used items for host families, to the need for a car to be jumped or a household item to be fixed.

Family friend – Become one part of a support system who comes alongside a family in need of community by being a friend. Family friends also support host families caring for children in their home. (Training and ongoing support provided).

Family coach – Listen to the hopes of a parent, help them make a growth plan, and encourage them along the way. (Training and ongoing support provided).

Host family – Invite children into your home, whose parent(s) need support to get back on their feet. Hostings can last from a couple hours to a couple months. (Training and ongoing support provided).

Talk to Don Murphy, Karin Abbott, or Nicole Hunter after either service this Sunday or email Nicole. nicole@trinitywenatchee.org
