Let Us Begin the Wait!

Dear Trinity,“Waiting in expectation is the foundation of the spiritual life.” - Simone WeilThis Sunday (the first Sunday of Advent) begins the spiritual exercise of waiting upon the Lord. And our first act of waiting is to make (and bring home) Advent wreaths.

  1. First, everyone is invited to make Advent Wreaths with live greens this Sunday after BOTH services! The four candles for the wreath as well as a Family Worship Guide are also provided. We will make the wreaths downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. (Please bring a bag (grocery or larger) of fresh greens cut into three-inch lengths and consider giving a donation of $10 per wreath or $20 for all the Advent activities.)

  2. Another invitation is to help our neighbors begin to wait and wonder about our coming King. As we begin preparing our homes for the coming season, let’s also consider joining Trinity Youth (7th-12th graders) in loving our neighbors by Decorating Wenatchee Rescue Mission this Sunday night (Dec 1). There is limited parking, so we will carpool from Trinity at 6:30pm and return by 8pm. The decorations are provided. We just need a community of smiling faces and loving hands!

  3. A third invitation is to join together in prayer and Scripture reading on Wednesday nights. Advent Prayer Nights (each Wednesday of Advent…on December 4, 11, & 18 from 6:30-7:30pm at church) will be opportunities to slow down and listen as we pray and prepare our hearts for our coming Savior. Together.

Good News for the Danish Daniel Family!

The fundraising effort to help Danish Daniel, his wife Zubaida, and their two daughters Mary and Salvia, immigrate to Canada has received a tremendously generous response from people at Trinity Church. Our goal was to raise $9600 now and another $9600 9-12 months from now. As of November 26, contributions to support the family have exceeded $16,000! We have surpassed our immediate goal and are well on our way to reaching the total goal of $19,200.

Carson sent $9600 to Refuge Church in Canada yesterday and we got a big thank you from the church today. Trinity will hold the excess funds until they are needed by Refuge Church.

We also talked with Mary, Danish’s daughter last night and she was astonished that people whom they have never met had made such generous contributions to help them make the long journey to a new life in Canada.

Thank you Trinity Church for your generous contributions to support this family.

Blessings,

Gordon and Linda Congdon
